Final Sleep Study Results

I got my final results phone call. They said that the mask was effective. My oxygen didn't go down and stayed in normal ranges. It kept me from having the apnea and my rate would be 7. I heard from my supply company and they said that they would call me as soon as they hear back from my insurance company and I am still waiting for that call :). Soon it will be here and I will be doing a video on it.. so come back soon!

Second Sleep Study

Well, I finished my second sleep study. It was not as bad as I thought it would be! I am pretty happy that it is over with and I don't have to worry about doing it anymore. I thought I would be really nervous but I was not nearly as nervous as I thought I would be.

I tried the Wisp mask and I didn't like that at ALL! I felt like it was taking my breath even more than the nasal pillows and that is funny because they go right inside your nose but the blowing of air inside that little one that just goes over my nose is harder for me to use. At least so far it is. I will see when I get my actual machine and my real mask(s) to see which is my favorite. But I really do believe that the nasal pillows will still be my favorite ones to use.
Anyway, I am just glad that one more step towards surgery is done and now just have to get the EGD and ultrasound and see my doctor to get my date. I hope that I am not nervous for them either. :)

Yes, I am Still Getting Prepared...

I cannot help it. I am in nursing school and I have been in long enough to realize what the beginning of the next semester is going to be like after surgery. I have to have something to drink protein shakes in while I am in school because I can have drinks in class all day and I can also have a drink in my lab as well so that will help keep hydrated.

I have found a wonderful little lunch box to take yogurts or cheese or a little meal that is the perfect size for my day and my tummy. OK, you want to know what I am talking about??? Well, I am about to share that with you.

I also have a new blender bottle. I can hardly wait to use it. It just came a few days ago and I didn't want to use my first protein shake while I was in school all day in case I didn't like the Nectar or it made my stomach hurt.. so... here is my new protein shake bottle (and yes I will be doing a review on them both in the near future).

 Yes, I did get this color. I have a water bottle this color from my school so I wanted this color for this too. I love it and I am going to go make my shake right now :).

I also did a review on the Grape Nectar. I am a fan and could actually drink this stuff :) 23 grams of protein per scoop and you mix it with 8 - 16 ounces of water. I like mixing it with water so that I will be able to drink it all day at school and not have milk go bad.

Tests and more tests...

Well, I had my consultation for the sleep study today. It was OK. I can't say much about it because I was in and out of the office in less than 30 minutes and that was including checking in time. I got weighed (and for the first time didn't feel horrible about it because for the first time I feel like I am really doing something about it). They checked my blood pressure, my temperature, my oxygen level and measured my neck.

She asked me a few questions about my sleep patterns, I explained to her about why I think I get up so many times during the night.. dogs, Jamie's vent, a knee in my back, and Jamie coughing - just generally checking on any noise I hear. She said it is very possible that I don't have it because of some lack of symptoms, but because I was having surgery at UVA, they really want anyone that has ANY symptoms of it to get the test for safety. I am glad they want to do it because of safety but I really hope I don't have to wear one of those machines.

I have my test on September 7th. I have class the next day so it will be later that night before I make a video on it, I'm sure. I may post something on Sunday night with all of my electrodes on.

Guess Where We Are??

Well.. guess where we are? Yes, by now, we are at the beach and getting ready to check-in to our hotel.. maybe even checked in by now. I am so excited to be here! I don't know how much I will post while we are at the beach. I will be taking tons of pictures and some videos but may not post any of them until we get back home! See ya soon.. Don't forget my 6th appt is Aug 14th so I will for sure make a video after that!

I am anxious

I am pretty excited. Not sure what to do first.. lol I have four appointments next week. One of them if for my mom, two are for me for nursing school, and a meeting for my son. It looks like these two things next week will be the last two things I have to do to get ready and turned in by the end of July. When we get back from vacation I will have to get my books and then I just have to wait for school to start.

Last week I had my 5th appointment last week. I am glad that this part of the process is almost over. I am hoping that next month will be my last appointment of my 6 weeks and then I can get my approval. I am hoping that I will find out before my birthday on the 20th.. but I don't think it will be that quick.

OK I am going for now. Not really that much to report. I am looking for some recipes to share on here so I will share some of them as soon as I can. I will post the links where the recipes come from at the bottom of each recipe. :)

Vacation Time....

.... is coming! I so wish it was now. I wish were there now.. or leaving tomorrow... or at least the day after tomorrow. I don't want to wish my summer away but at the same time I wish we were on our much needed vacation at the beach. I am pretty excited to spend the whole week with my family. I really do love them and love this time together. I hope we get to go there every single year!

I am so excited and cannot wait for it to get here. We are going to the beach for 6 nights and I am sooooo excited. This should be my last year on vacation looking like this, feeling like this and being like this! I am ready!

Pre Op Appointments

Well, I just finished what I hope to be my number 4 Pre Op Appointment with my surgeons office. I am hoping that they take the first two appointments with my Primary Care Physician. Because one was a little close to my first appt. in May with my surgeon. They seem to think that they will count so.. for now I am going with that. That means I completed number 4 on June 12th. I go back on July 3rd and then for number 6 on August 14th, after we get back from the beach.

This means that I am getting there.. so excited! Because of school I will have to wait until December for actual surgery but with an approval in hand.. waiting won't be so horrible :)

Hello everyone! I am starting the blog for my weight loss and the total journey for Weight Loss Surgery!
I have decided to look into the WLS VSG (Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy).

I just had my first doctor's appointment yesterday but not sure what we are going to do. I think that my insurance is going to make me do a diet for 6 months but we will find out soon.

I will let you know more later when I find out more and I will also be putting personal feelings, thoughts and fears here too.
